The work of Teis Albers ('82) is a blend of various elements of art and streetscapes. From blownup illustrations and weathered posters to billboards and graffiti tags. From the subconscious he plays with these various elements and allows the compositions to be created layer by layer. Everything comes together in a digital canvas where he has full control over size, composition and color ... After that follows the physical layering with various materials.

The works are a mix of illustration, typography, photography and various compilation techniques and may be labeled as exerimental, wild and expressive. Teis finds inspiration by looking at vintage stuff, street art, science fiction from the 60's and 70's, flyers, brochures, travels, nature and music, lots of music.

After living several years in the city center of 's-Hertogenbosch Teis recently moved to a more remote village. The contrast forms the basis for his contemporary work. Weathered walls with layers of torn posters next to nature and wide views. Crowded malls with screaming neon ... and above a flock of birds, together becoming one. Teis started as a graphic designer and has been working for almost 10 years independently for various clients. (See also www.hypnoteis.nl) Next to his more commercial work, he never sits still and he continues to renew with artwork in various disciplines.

The works are made in in editions and on a variety of materials such as paper, wood and canvas. The base is digital, but the finishing touch is handcraft. Teis loves to be active in various fields within the arts and experiments alongside art with film, animation and music.

The message Teis wants to spread among other artists, "Do it because you want to do, do it for that inner drive to create, not for the money or fame, but only for the passion to express. To inspire others to keep busy. Life is short, go and create something!"
